Pain Diagnosis Online

Whenever you have pain and you don't know why, you probably will ultimately turn to the internet to self-diagnose yourself online. Whether you are having chest pain, leg pain, back pain or even neck pain, diagnosis online can help you relieve the pain and sometimes cure it depending on the underlying cause of the pain. Sometimes a trip to the doctor or ER is required, but for the most part, you can diagnose where the pain is coming from and why while finding variable treatment methods to suppress the pain and sometimes even get rid of the pain indefinitely – or at least until something causes the pain to return. The three most common areas of the body to have pain include the neck, shoulder and back.

Causes of Neck Pain

The neck can easily be injured due to the fact that it is so mobile and less stable than other parts of our body. Neck pain is a common pain diagnosis online and can be caused by a number of things such as poor posture, trauma, joints or bone abnormalities, etc.

The most common cause of neck pain is from the muscles, ligaments and tendons having pain in themselves, which is usually caused from strained muscles. Because of this, you can generally recover from the pain on your own within no more than a couple of months. However, if you experience excruciating neck pain or pain that never subsides, it may be time to meet with your family physician to ensure there isn’t something more serious going on.

Causes of Shoulder Pain

Your shoulders have a very large range of movement and is a joint known as the ball and socket. This area of your body is very, very mobile and because of that is more susceptible to injury and pain. Here is a look at few causes of the pain you may experience in your shoulder(s):

  • Dislocation.
  • Tendonitis.
  • Joint instability.
  • Fractures in the upper arm or collar bone.
  • Pinched nerves.
  • Overexertion-related strains.

As a general rule, anti-inflammatory meds and some pain medicine will relieve the pain that you are suffering in your shoulder. Most of the time, shoulder pain is no reason for concern as it is usually caused from overexerting yourself. However, if the pain continues or gets worse, it may be wise to have it checked out by a professional as they can perform X-Rays and MRI’s to determine if there is a reason to be concerned due to a more serious underlying cause of the pain.

Causes of Back Pain

More than 80% of back pain within the United States is caused from strain; however, back pain can also be caused by disc herniation, fracture, trauma, infection, osteoarthritis, and spondylolisthesisamong others.
Acute back pain usually subsides with little (OTC pain meds) to no treatment within a couple of weeks; however, those with chronic and persistent back pain, which is more than two to four weeks, should visit their physician for a more in-depth pain diagnosis.
